Centre-left EuroMP Vincenzo Iovine, from Alleanza per l’Italia (API) party, has sent a letter to the EU Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner, Dacian Ciolos, to express his concern about the future of leaf tobacco growing in Europe. In particular, Iovine maintained, as tobacco ingredients and additives are likely to be banned from manufacturing processes, upon request by the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) of the World Health Organization, around 70 thousand growers are going to be deprived from their work in Europe alone.
